Creative expression as a healing process has been used over many years to promote wellness and healing. The idea that creative expression can make a powerful contribution to the healing process has been embraced in many different cultures.

Throughout recorded history, people have used pictures, stories, dances, and chants as healing rituals. Creative Art Therapies help people express experiences that are too difficult to put into words and can be a refuge from intense emotions. Engaging in the creative arts can help you to focus on positive life experiences, enhances your self-worth and identity and allows you to express your feelings in a symbolic manner.

Creative Arts can help you find your voice and gain access to the wisdom you already have but cannot experience because you cannot find the words.

Finding one’s voice can be a healing process because it opens up the opportunity for self-expression, self identity and work though feelings, improve relationships, and learn new things about yourself.

Research shows there are clear indications that artistic engagement has significantly positive effects on mental and physical health. Using arts in healing helps us focus on the holistic nature of each individual. Through creativity and imagination, we find our identity and our reservoir of healing. The more we understand the relationship between creative expression and healing, the more we will discover the healing power of the arts.
